Today is the 4th anniversary of my dear husband Maurice’s passing. I know Maurice would love to be on this journey with me but would also want me to be getting on with life so that is what I’m doing. There will always be a sadness in my heart because he is not here to enjoy this.
Today’s cycling: 39 kilometers · +459 m / -452 m! A lot of ups and downs so if you were really cycling even with an e-bike it is strenuous!
Leaving the city of Poreč behind, our next stage took us through the villages of Fontana and Vrsar, before we embarked on a scenic gravel road through the picturesque Istrian seaside.
As we peddled around the Lim Channel, we passed through Brajkovići and Rovinjsko Selo before arriving in Rovinj.
Upon arrival in Rovinj, we explored the old town filled with Venetian-style buildings and charming cafes. We strolled along the waterfront, soaking in the beauty of the shimmering sea and the colourful fishing boats. Rovinj’s narrow alleys and vibrant atmosphere make the city a place well worth visiting. The town’s most iconic landmark is the hilltop Church of St. Euphemia, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Adriatic Sea and the town below.
We had dinner at the Puntulina restaurant which was perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The sea bream was excellent. Afterwards we had dessert back at the lovely “La Nuvola Bistro” in our hotel, which is beautifully decorated and the desserts were excellent.
