La Croix-Valmer is a small town on the Cote d’Azur south-west of Saint Tropz, in an attractive location with beaches backed by the pine covered Maures Massif, a substantial part of which is now a protected reserve. The town itself has some interesting ‘belle-epoque’ (early 20th century) villas to see, of which the imposing Maison des Peres du Saint Esprit and the Orangery are the most impressive, but it is the coast, the beaches and the scenery that attract the crowds during the summer months rather than the architecture.
For me there are so many happy memories here in La Croix. We spent many fun springs and summers here with our dear friends Joe and Mags. By good fortune our friend Dane who lives in Sydney was also down here in La Croix at the same time as us, and so we caught up for a fabulous lunch chez Dane. He is amazingly creative with the food he cooks. He has that artistic talent that is portrayed through his artwork and throughout his beautiful house overlooking the magnificent coastline of La Croix Valmer.
We rented a lovely beach house and Mags and I walked the coastal path near the house, and then shopped for our baguettes and cheeses and fresh fruits at the local markets.
A wonderful 4 days.
