Killaloe is a small town in east County Clare, Ireland. It lies on the River Shannon on the western bank of Lough Derg and is connected by Killaloe Bridge to the “twin town” of Ballina on the eastern bank of the lake. It’s about 20 minutes from Castleconnell and Jeanne and I went there to have a look around.
It was very busy today as the final for the Irish Hurling championships was on, so the pubs were heaving!! Clare v Cork and Clare won by one point!!!
The bridge across the Shannon separates Killaloe from Ballinar.
The houses are painted in bright colours with lovely hanging baskets. A pretty little town and well worth a visit.
Tomorrow I head to Dublin by train. Bye bye Castleconnell.
