Hello friends,
Sorry I haven’t been online for a while but I now have some time to catch up with the blog and post what I’ve been up to over the past few months. Time seems to fly by and without sounding frivolous I sometimes have to think about where I actually am.
I was invited to Dublin in November for a weekend to stay with my good friends Joe and Margaret Sweeney. We had a very relaxing time, and Mags and I managed to get in a few good walks. By good walks I mean we walked a long way, but it was so cold on the walk from Killiney Beach to Black Rock, that I couldn’t feel my fingers at the end of the walk. And there were a lot of white bodied rosy cheeked people swimming in the ocean. God bless them all!
So the first walk on the Saturday was around University College of Dublins grounds. The scenery is beautiful and there are still trees in full autumn bloom.
After lunch we went to the lovely old movie house in Templebar, and then after the movie had finished, we walked along Grafton Street to see the Xmas decorations. Joe took us to a lovely restaurant, the Dublin City Centre restaurant, which was located just around the corner from Grafton Street. The food had an australian influence as the previous chef was from Oz and it was delicious and beautifully presented.
Sunday Mags and I caught the train to Killiney Beach and then walked back along the coast to Black Rock. The wind was in our faces all the way.
We passed Enya’s house, the Edges house and possibly Bono’s house. Beautiful properties looking out over the ocean. We passed 40 foot beach where my dearly departed husband swam on a Xmas day long gone. Everyone looked so cold but there were a lot of people. swimming out there!
Then home and out to Mag’s sister, Anne, for a surprise birthday party for Joe. Lovely end to a very quick visit to a country that I hold close to my heart.
