I was looking forward to docking in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, home to Anne of Green Gables. This was an unscheduled stop, and a pleasant surprise. So off to see where Anne of Green Gables lived, as depicted in the book by Lucy Montgomery. The book was based on Lucy Montgomery’s life and was a very challenging life it was.
The town is named after Queen Charlotte, the wife of George III. It is home to a network of walking trails and waterside boardwalks, craft and speciality shops, restaurants, agricultural products and carriage rides.
Inside the house. How hard life must have been during this period!!
And then a walk through the woods where Anne used to let her imagination run.
From there we went to the Prince Edward National Park known for its red sand dunes.
Some of the historic buildings of Charlottetown.
A lovely day spent in Charlottetown, the largest city on and the provincial capital of Prince Edward Island, as well as travelling around the island and visiting Anne of Green Gables. I am now inspired to watch the series “Anne with an E”!!
Off to our next port, Sydney in Novia Scotia. Now back to our home for cocktail hour and trivia quiz!!
