From the south to the north island of New Zealand! Connecting again with my old partner in crime at school, Christine, and her husband Richard. Christine was always involved with horses, even during our school days, and now she does voluntary work with the Riding for the Disabled Association. Christine and Richard live on a beautiful property about 30 minutes north of Auckland near Albany. The area is very rural and the countryside is beautiful.
I was lucky enough to accompany Christine to the RDA and was able to help feed the horses and to see all the volunteers in action. Such a great cause. The RDA provides great joy for many disabled children with the help of so many volunteers.
The following day Christine and I drove to Orewa Estuary and then walked to Orewa beach. Orewa is a quaint seaside town, very busy at this time of year.
I did return to walk the estuary on my own a few days later, and despite Christine telling me that I couldn’t get lost, that’s exactly what I did! Fortunately I was able to ask a passer-by where I was and how to get back to Orewa!
