I just wanted to share some pictures of Harpenden, the town I lived in from the age of 10, on and off until the age of 27 when I left for Australia. These houses pictured below are all in an area called West Common, and it is a beautiful area full of very expensive houses. For any of you who remember Eric Morecombe and “Cats Eyes Cunningham”, they both lived in Harpenden in this area.
Harpenden apparently has more CEOs in one town than anywhere else in England. According to research Harpenden is described as “wealthy”, “affluent” and “snobby”.
I enjoyed daily walks up to West Common and through Rothamsted Park, enjoying the countryside and the fresh air. Sweep is the lovely dog of a friend of mine and he used to join us for coffee in the Silver Palate, a lovely independent coffee shop.
And of course there’s nothing like old friendships! It will be sad to leave this time having sold mum’s house which has always been my base when returning to the UK. An end of an era.
