A lovey few days spent with Ford and Wendy in their lovely cornish home. So this morning we are heading to Newquay at my request, as I spent many childhood holidays here, and then I will be heading on to Devon. So our first stop in Newquay was the iconic Headland Hotel where we stopped for coffee and a cornish tea! We sat in a very regal lounge looking out at the very uninviting grey ocean.
The lovely Headland Hotel where Ronald Dahl’s “The Witches” was filmed.
It was renamed “Hotel Excelsior” for the film.
We enjoyed the morning sitting in the warmth, having a cornish cream tea and watching the wind whirling around the ocean.
After our morning break it was time to brave the elements and head down to Fistral beach. As you can see from the skies, it was raining on and off, and the wind was unrelenting and very cold!! However it has a natural beauty that you can appreciate in any type of weather.
It is Cornwall’s most iconic beach and is one of the most consistent and best surfing beaches in the UK and Europe.
